Another nomination process, this time for the=20
Global Alliance (see=20
<http://www.unicttaskforce.org>)

Two emails below explain everything. But, in=20
summary, a multi-stakeholder Strategy Council is=20
being created to help guide the new Global=20
Alliance. The Strategy Council will have about 50=20
members from all stakeholders: perhaps 15 or so=20
members from civil society (15? I don't know, a=20
guess!)

Self nominations are encouraged, and individuals=20
or groups can recommend people.

Through the WSIS plenary, some civil society=20
organizations will begin a nomination process=20
similar to the one run for the IGF advisory group.

Time is very short -- self nominations should be=20
sent to the Alliance secretariat at=20
<gaid-nominate@unicttaskforce.org> by May 10.=20
Details on the UNICT Task Force website.

There is more time (but not much more) for the CS process, see email below.

Sarbuland Khan, UN DESA, is leading the=20
nomination process. He particularly asked that=20
civil society find representatives of Youth and=20
Gender groups. I know the Youth caucus has begun=20
its own nomination process. I think it would be=20
helpful if the Asian Family endorsed any person=20
from our region that the Youth caucus' nomination=20
process selected. I don't know what the Gender=20
groups are doing, but again, I think we should=20
support anyone the region's Gender groups select.

And I have an individual suggestion and request=20
-- I intend to encourage Izumi Aizu to put his=20
name forward and I hope this list will endorse=20
Izumi's nomination. I think Izumi would be an=20
ideal member of a group like the strategy=20
council. He did a great job involving civil=20
society in some of the regional WSIS processes,=20
listens and provides feedback, and has experience=20
working in similar global processes.

I hope other people will show interest in joining=20
the Strategy Council, but also hope the=20
list/caucus will support Izumi.

Disclosure: Izumi no longer works at GLOCOM, he=20
is leading work at another non-profit institute=20
in Japan. We work on a couple of projects=20
together but not as GLOCOM colleagues.

Thanks,

Adam
