Dear Friends

PrepCom 3 is ongoing...
(You may access all WSIS related matters at www.itu.int/wsis , which also has
links to CS sites...)

A lot of information about daily events, reporting from plenary and
sub-committee etc, is being posted to the plenary list. If you are not on
plenary@wsis-cs.org - please go here to subscribe:
http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/plenary - all information about
prepcom will be posted here.

Here however are some quick updates from Karen Banks who is there in Geneva on
how Civil society is organising it's work:

> Official Organisation of work
> -----------------------------
> As you know, the official process is organised into 2 sub-committees -
>
> Sub-Committee A dealing with internet governance - meets every morning,
1000-1300
> Sub-Committee B dealing with follow up, implementation and financing,
1500-1800
>
> The first meeting of sub-committees is today(20 Sept), as the general plenary
went
> well overtime yesterday, largely due to the extended discussion about the
> objections to accreditation for Human Rights in China (HRC)
>
> Civil Society organisation of work
> ----------------------------------
> Civil Society COntent and themes agreed to organise it's own work by
> mirroring the two sub-committees. A focal point has been identified for
> each sub-committee who is responsible for facilitating organisation of
> work, rooms, drafting selection of speakers etc.
>
> Sub-com A, internet governance, focal point jeanette hofmann - will meet
> every day 1430 til 1630. Internet governance caucus reps will be in the
> room every dar from 1430-1500 to meet with interested delegates, draft
> language, select speakers etc.. if there is no business and noone has
> turned up by 1500, the meeting may adjourn.
>
> Sub-com B, follow-up, implementation, financing; focal point is Bertrand de la
> Chappelle - am not sure when or where they meet.

Other efforts:

1) From Adam Peake:

Please take a look at the webdialogue project's website, they are
trying to bring as much information as possible from the prepcom
about Internet governance, and will also hold a series of interactive
sessions, etc.

<http://www.webdialogues.net/cs/dialogue-wgig/view/di/70?x-t=home.view>

Great credit to Derrick Cogburn. the Internet Governance Project and
all involved in helping people follow what's going on at the prepcom
remotely and generally enriching the discussion

2) WEbcast

> Please note that this is where the official webcast (audio only, real
> media format) of Prepcom III is available:
>
> http://www.itu.int/ibs/WSIS/p2/pc3
>
> It appears to be working now. Only in English and in the original
> language of each speaker.

Thanks

Al

P.S. From Asia I think Adam Peake is there now, and Anita Gurumurthy of IT for
Change India. REza Salim (BanglaDesh) is granted a fellowship, and I know
NOrbert Klein (Open Forum Cambodia) and Izumi Aizu will be arriving in Geneva
next week. (It seems I will not be able to make it.)
