It's not happening in Tehran, but in Kish Island. Here is the
information I have on the event:

Volunteer Actors: The Iran CSOs Training and Research Center
<www.irancsos.net> and InterNews Europe are holding a regional civil
society meeting on the WSIS for the West Asia region in Kish Island,
Iran, August 23-25, 2005.

Goals:
1. Increase Capacity of Participants;
2. Promote regional and International Networking and Civil Society
Building; 3. Develop a statement or set of recommendations with
respect to the WSIS from the West Asia Region. 4. Exchange of
information and experiences of participants.

Meeting Schedule:
• Day One: A series of short presentations addressing largely cyber
rights and cultural diversity followed by a general discussions among
participants.

• Day two: Three-four training workshops. Currently we are planning
workshops on Empowering women through ICT; Secure Communications;
Empowering the Media through ICT; and Empowering Civil Society through
Virtual Networks.

• Day Three: Small group work by participants resulting in a
statement and/or recommendations from the region for the WSIS.

Participants:
There will be approximately 45 participants at the event (20 from the
region with a priority focus on the Middle East and Afghanistan and 25
from across Iran). Meeting participants will include representatives
from human rights organizations (including women$BCT(B organizations),
media associations and organizations, journalists, webloggers and
non-governmental organizations working on the information society and
ICT (including organizations committed to research and development,
promotion of access and think tanks).
