Hi Arfa
Of course I remember you--I was trying to get you to
attend a Communication Rights workshop in Manila last
year, but you were on maternity leave (congrats by the
way!)...Beh Li Yi ended up attending and I hope she
reported to Malaysiakini about the results and
discussions...
Yes, I am aware of some censorship issues in
Malaysia...if you have other info, please post it on the
list and send me...tell Li Yi to post them as well on
the Asia Comm Rights list...
As to the fellowship, I suggst you just apply directly
and we will see if we can push.
No assurances though because we are still unclear how
many fellowships are available, and they prioritize LDCs
(least developed countries). Then there is the debate
going on about who to give the fellowships to--there is
a move to prioritize people who have followed the
process, and who have been active especially in some of
the working groups (e.g., Financing, Internet
Governance, etc.) during this phase.
Lastly, but more importantly: you will have to be a
member of a WSIS-accredited organization before anything
(registratioin, fellowship)... Is Malaysiakini
qualified?
Keep in touch

apply for fellowship but am unsure whether I would have
to be nominated by an accredited organisation. (I'm
interested coz the latest trend of the M'sian
authorities is to impede on internet bloggers and hope
to do raise this issue there). Can you help?
