Hi Hamada

Sorry for the delayed response--too much work and things
happening....sigh...

Firstly, congratulations to all our Japanese colleagues including Glocom,
who are involved in organizing this event in Tokyo... (By the way is this a
global event or an Asian regional event?)

I think by and large the outline is good--
> I particularly like the inclusion of topics related to the Tsumani
disaster, and what to do AFTER, when the glare of publicity is dimmed...
> Universal Access, privacy and human rights are very important...

Clarifications
> I assume topic # 3 refers to security ? ("safe environment") - if so,
there should be a critique of the Council of Europe treaty I imagine
> What will topic # 5 tackle? ("social needs") - does this refer to
applications and relevant/strategic use of technology?

Minor Suggestions:
> since it is WSIS season-- are you including (or are deliberately avoiding)
discussing the WSIS issues (i.e., Internet Governance and Financing ICTs for
Development?) It may make sense to have something on this--if not within the
main program, in a possible side/parallel actitivty
> If it is an Asian activity, maybe the question of localization should be
discussed - or what the relation of the ubiquitous network society has to do
with cultural diversity etc. (its a topic at WSIS, but also at Unesco this
year).

Again there may be too many topics so take this suggestion as just an
inquiry in case you want to round out the programme...

> Maybe something on Gender in the Ubiquitous Network Society? It is our
advocacy to not be gender blind so maybe good to integrate gender-related
subtopics (or a special topic on gender), and to ensure an appropriate
balance of speakers

I would imagine there will be space to look at different traditional and
emerging technologies and their relationship to the UNSociety--from the vsat
to sms/cellphones to other wireless--that would be interesting...

Sorry if I say too much...

Bye for now
