Dear all,

As for the Civil Society Session of the Tokyo ubiquitous network
conference in May, the secretariat (GLOCOM) proposed the draft outline.

This outline will be fixed by 10th. Would you send your opinions or
suggestions?

Draft Outline of the Civil Society Session
Tokyo Ubiquitous Network Conference


1) Overall Theme:
a) Designing the Ubiquitous Network Society for the Civil Society
or
b) Roadmap for Citizens' Ubiquitous Network Society

2) Suggested topics for discussion:
a) Access for All
- How to ensure equitable ubiquitous access to all persons
- Challenges and opportunities for inclusion of persons with disabilities
- Ensuring access in disaster situations such as Tsunami, earthquake or 
other natural or social disaster and make use of ubiquitous network to help 
overcome post-disaster situation
b) Human rights including privacy protection
- How to protect human rights in the highly networked society
- How to ensure privacy of citizens against misuse of information in the 
ubiquitous network environment
c) Establishing the safe and reliable community in the ubiquitous network society
- Consideration for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and 
socially marginalized groups
d) The roadmap for ideal ubiquitous society for the citizens
- Civil Society perspective on how to build the ideal ubiquitous society
         Education, Technology, Information Infrastructure and other 
elements of social design should be considered in such a roadmap
-e) Social needs for the ubiquitous network society

3) Composition
One speaker in each of the above issues, total of five speakers will be selected
Each speaker will make 10- 15 minute presentation
A chair will be selected to moderate the session and conclude with common 
findings.

4) Civil Society Statement
A designated speaker will represent Civil Society participants and make 
formal statement at the opening session of the conference on May 16.
