Subject: [communication 1263] Asians in PrepCom2...
Hello all
PrepCom 2 is almost upon us :-)
Unfortunately, I will not be able to join the fun in Geneva...(am being
ironic here :-) But I know of several people who will be attending, and
it is my sincere hope that the Asia Pacific caucus will again make is
presence felt...
As per my knowledge, here are the attendees: (or at least planning to
attend: asterisked are those who I know have applied for fellowship)
- Hamada Tadahisa (Japan) + plus one companion
- Angela Kuga Thas (Malaysia)*
- Adam Peake (Japan)
- Izumi Aizu (Japan)
- John Fung (Hongkong)
- Reza Salim (Bangladesh)
- Parminder and Anita from IT for Change (India)
- Geeta Sharma (One World South Asia- India) - with a few other
grassroot group reps
- Bazlur Rahman (BanglaDesh NGO Network or Radio and Communication)*
**any others**??? (Arun of MSSRF? other GKP members? Isis? other?)
-- if youknow of any other, pls report and contact them to join the
list..
Assuming Angela gets to Geneva, she will probably play the role of rep
in the CS Bureau (assuming it will still have a role)--one she has
performed admirably since Phase One.. I have asked her (and all of athe
others) to coordinate with the people above (some "WSIS veterans", some
"virgins" :-) on reviving again the Asian Caucus...
Hopefully people can use this list to:
- check in if you are going, and to post flight itineraries and lodging
arrangements
- get some discussion going on urgent issues to bring collectively to
Geneva
- agree on some time to meet up and caucus in Geneva
- report back to all of us not going on what is happening in Geneva...
(need for a blogsite?)
- etc.
So Happy (Chinese) New Year to all...hope to hear from all you folks
again...
Al
