Hi all,

Thanks Alan,

I was there, accidentally, since I came Geneva to attend the
ITU workshop on Internet Governance and found that meeting and
spend most of lunch time at CSB meeting.

The outlook is very bad, at this point, for the whole preparation of
WSIS.

The debate around Internet Governance is starting, and the Swiss
guy Kummer said yesterday that he might be asked to head the
working group by UN SG Anan.

There are very few speakers participating here from Asia. Except
one chair from India, ex-government official, I might be the only
one. One factor they say is there is no fund available. But still
the selection of speakers is very much biased to the West, which
is ironical as some governments pushed UN/ITU framework because
that will support more participation from the developing countries.

Overall some 150 people are participating, including those from
the capitals, not the mission people in Geneva.

You can watch it live or the archives from the link below.

I will make presentation titled "Netizen participation"
in 2 hours from now. My slide should be there online, too.

best,

izumi
