Dear all,

Here's a quick update on the Asia-Pacific Caucus here in the 3rd PrepCom of the
WSIS.

The AP Caucus met yesterday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. and some 10-12 people
attended. The meeting was basically an orientation on issues and processes
around the PrepCom as many were frist time participants.

As of this morning, the AP organisations represented (or at least those we have
come across and/or worked with) here are: APC-WNSP, Dalit Media Group (from
Nepal), Daisy Consortium--I beleive this is an international organisation
working on disability issues but has an Asia chapter, Forum for Media
Alternatives, Isis International-Manila, Jinbonet, UN Volunteers, and Youth
Volunteers for Sustainable Development.

There's also Tai Purcel from Samoa and other Pacific representatives, Amir from
Iran, and Reza Samim from Bangladesh.

We hope to be able to meet everyday to discuss common lobbying points and
perhaps draft a statement.

Al Alegre from FMA is representing AP in the Civil Society Bureau. He or
someone from our region will co-chair the civil society plenary at some point
during this PrepCom.

Warm regards,

Mavic
