Dear colleagues in WSIS Asia,

Just want to share this other update with you --on the t-shirt campaign of the
NGO Gender Strategies Working Group.

best,

Mavic

******************

The NGO Gender Srategies Working Group launched the WSIS t-shirt campaign
yesterday and it became an instant success!

The t-shirts, which contained the message "WSIS has a missing paragraph" (on
the front) and the text of paragraph 11A (on the back) were worn by a number of
NGO delegates. Later in the day, some government representatives approached us
and bought their own t-shirts. They said they're gonna wear them during the
PrepCom. We've actually run out of t-shirts and more people are asking!

More importantly, we were approached by several government delegates and
representatives of intergovernmental organisations who asked where can they get
a copy of paragraph 11A. So today, we're printing copies of 11A to give to the
delegates.

The 'gender para 11 A t-shirt'has a Pacific version which contains the SIDS
paragraph. Yesterday, Tai Purcell gave one t-shirt to PrepCom President Adama
Samassekou. We had a 'photo op'with him. We also have photos of NGO GSWG
members. We hope to be able to send you the photos later today - calling
Chat:)?

The t-shirt campaign idea was planned during the Gender and ICT forum in Kuala
Lumpur from 20-23 August. The design was done by Anne S. Walker of IWTC.
Production and distribution of the t-shirts were coordinated by Isis-Manila.

I am attaching here para 11 A and the rationale.

Cheers,

Mavic
