The most recent versions of the draft =Declaration of Principles and the revised Action Plan are available on =the website. These documents will serve as the basis for negotiations at =PrepCom3. WEB INVENTOR TO PARTICIPATE IN SUMMIT The inventor of the worldwide web, Tim Berners-Lee, will =participate in 'The Role of Science in the Information Society' =conference at CERN. INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) CASE =STUDIES - FULFILING THE UN MILLENIUIM DEVELOPMENT GOALS As part of the preparations for the World Summit on the =Information Society (WSIS), the ITU's Strategy and Policy Unit has =published "ICT Success Stories" from around the globe. The stories =illustrate projects that have successfully deployed information and =communication technologies (ICT) in innovative ways and in fulfillment =of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. d.. CIVIL SOCIETY WANTS FEEDBACK ON PRIORITIES The most recent version of the Civil Society Priorities =Document, prepared for the Intersessional Meeting in Paris, is being =revised for PrepCom3 next month. The conference is dedicated to analyzing the impact of =new Information and Communication Technologies. b.. 08 - 10 Sep 2003 UNCTAD, Measuring Electronic Commerce as an Instrument for =the Development of the Digital Economy, Palais de Nations, Geneva. The =objective of the meeting is to provide a framework for introducing =developing countries' views into the existing debates and initiatives on =digital economy statistics and indicators. c.. 10 - 11 Sep 2003 Fourth Meeting of the Council Working Group on WSIS, =Madeira, Portugal. The meeting will focus on how the ITU work programme =contributes to the fulfillment of the objectives outlined in the WSIS =draft action plan. d.. 10 - 12 Sep 2003 Latin America and Caribbean Regional Forum on Local =Governments in the Information Society, Curitiba, Brazil. SUMMIT TO SHOWCASE THE BEST OF e-CONTENT and =CREATIVITY The World Summit Award is a UN member state initiative =that will honour creative e-content applications. The awards celebrate =information society 'products' that bridge the digital divide and will =be announced at WSIS on December 10th. b.. YOUTH AWARDS & WSIS The Youth Creating Digital Opportunities Coalition and the =Youth Caucus of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) are =coordinating an international awards program to recognize and showcase =young people's contributions in the field of ICT for development. The =finalists will have an opportunity to showcase their projects in an =exhibition within the Youth HUB at the Summit. Enter today - the =deadline is 15 September! c..
