The Global Knowledge = Partnership,=20 the International Institute for Sustainable Development = (http://www.iisd.org"> face=3DVerdana size=3D2>http://www.iisd.org face=3DVerdana size=3D2>) and=20 TakingITGlobal (http://www.takingitglobal.org"> face=3DVerdana size=3D2>http://www.takingitglobal.org face=3DVerdana size=3D2>), in=20 collaboration with the Regional Information Technology & software=20 Engineering Center (RITSEC) are = organizing a=20 two-day workshop for Young Women Leaders in Information Communication=20 Technologies (ICT) from 14-15 June, 2003, in=20 Cairo,=20 Egypt. =20 GKP, IISD and TIG are the lead members of the Youth Creating Digital=20 Opportunities Coalition (http://www.ycdo.net"> = face=3DVerdana size=3D2>http://www.ycdo.net face=3DVerdana size=3D2>), the=20 core component of the GKP youth strategy.
 
An=20 estimated total of 40 young women from the Middle East and North African = region=20 are expected to participate in this workshop, to ensure that the voices = of young=20 women are heard at the Pan-Arab Regional Conference on the
= WSIS=20 (http://www.wsis-egypt.gov.eg"> face=3DVerdana = size=3D2>http://www.wsis-egypt.gov.eg face=3DVerdana size=3D2>) to be=20 held in Cairo from 16-18 June = 2003, under=20 the auspices of the League of Arab States, and organized by the Egyptian = Ministry of Communication and Information Technology = (MCIT).
 
The=20 two-day workshop is sponsored in part by The Egyptian Ministry of = Communication=20 and Information Technology and will include presentations, roundtables = and=20 discussions on topics related to young women from the Middle East and = North=20 African countries working in, or interested in working in the field of = ICT for=20 development. More information on the agenda and speakers will be = available=20 shortly.

GKP = members who are=20 attending the=20 Pan-Arab Regional = Conference on=20 the WSIS are requested to = inform the=20 Secretariat of their participation at gkps@gkpsecretariat.org.my =20
