Here attached is the comment we sent, as Japan NGO Coordination
Committee
for WSIS, to WSIS Secretariat last night.

The members who participated
include:

Kenji Saga (Chairman of Study Group on the Digital Divide issue,
The Japan Society of Information and Communication Research)
Takeo Nobusawa (BHN Association)
Eiji Hayashi (BHN Association)
Kouichirou Shinohara (BHN Association)
Shiro Harada (University of Tokyo)
Hisako Fujimoto (Shimin Digital Solutions)
Tadahisa Hamada (JCAFE)
Satomi Oku (United Nations Student Association of Japan)
Kengo Yashima (United Nations Student Association of Japan)
Motohiko Nagaoka (Area Information Associates)
Yoshiharu Shimamoto (Center of the International Cooperation for
Computerization)
Nobuo Sakiyama (Japan Chapter of Computer Professionals for Social
Responsibility)
Izumi Aizu (GLOCOM)

Secretariat: GLOCOM (Center for Global Communciations, International
University of Japan), Contact: Izumi Aizu izumi@anr.org

We tried to reorganize the first section of declaration, which was
a
substantial work, and inserted a new concept/term
"Vernacular"
to give stronger emphasis on local or our own culture and
content.

Also tried to include some mention on homeless, street children and
victims of natural disasters and military conflicts.

Please see the attached file for more details.

Many thanks,

izumi

GLOCOM just sent the attached as our submission to the intersessional
process.

3 issues: accessibility for disabled and elderly, Internet names
and addresses, and participation in policymaking.

If you are making comments, the address to send to is
<wsis.ap@itu.int> There is a mailto link on the WSIS home
page that gives you the wrong address (it brings up
<wsis.ap@.int>)

Thanks,
