Hi everyone,

I'm sorry that I have not been = communicating much=20 on this list. I thought I was on it then I was off it again for some = reason.=20 Mysteriously unsubscribed! In any case, I think I'd like an idea of = who's on=20 this list specifically from the Asia Pacific region. If Hamada or PatchA = can=20 help in this that would be great.

The reason why I'm writing is that = there are=20 basically three major decisions to be made. I believe Al Alegre did = raise the=20 issue of representation on the Civil Society Bureau at one time (before = my=20 hardisk crashed and lost all my e-mails). I'd like to raise that issue = again.=20 Currently, from PrepCom2 in Geneva, Al Alegre and myself, Angela, were = elected=20 to represent the Asia Pacific "family" on the Civil Society Bureau which = is=20 supposed to facilitate participation of our "family" members in the WSIS = processes including off-site events. For more information on type of = events,=20 please visit the website: www.geneva2003.org">http://www.geneva2003.org">www.geneva2003.org and read up on = the Civil=20 Society Facility Fund.

The other matter that needs decisions = is an=20 indication of who/which organisations intend or want to participate=20 in:
  1.  the=20 July Intersessional 21-26 July, Paris
  2. PrepCom III (15-26 September, = Geneva)
  3. The WSIS Summit (December = 10-12,=20 Geneva
Another key decision is whether as a = region, we=20 would like to respond to the draft declaration and action plan as a = region. It=20 would be great if those who were active in Tokyo during the drafting=20 would want to take a lead in this. The content and themes = sub-committee led=20 by Bill McIver and Sally Burch have proposed that regional caucuses send = their=20 inputs directly to the WSIS secretariat by 30th May latest.

The third key decision is whether as a region, we'd like to have a = side=20 event during the Summit itself and book a space in Palexpo.

Other possibilities for the region which are off-site opportunities = are=20 outlined in the Civil Society Facility Fund document which you can find = on the=20 website mentioned above.

Do respond please. I believe Al should also express here his own = sentiments=20 about being on the CS Bureau, and whether there's a need to identify a = third=20 alternative?

Warm regards,

Angela
