media leader within the democracy movement and elsewhere. Soe Myint was
educated under the BSPP regime, where English was not taught, and has worked
hard to teach himself many skills and is Founder and Editor of online
Mizzima News. He has inspired a lot of young people and earned the respect
of the older set and leaders.

As you are aware, Mizzima News' Founder Editor Mr. Soe Myint is to face the
trial in India for a political action he did more than twelve years ago. He
may be put behind the bar for life if he is found guilty of the charges. The
trial will begin at a court in Kolkata (Calcutta), West Bengal of India on
April 2, 2003.
