Session Title:  "Towards more inclusive Information Society:=20
Perspectives from the Asia and Pacific"

Abstract

This panel examines the critical challenges NGO and civil society=20
actors in the Asia and Pacific region are facing in relation to the=20
rapid diffusion of ICT on the one hand, and the lack or insufficient=20
penetration of infrastructure and other resources to fully enjoy its=20
benefits. Key stakeholders from NGO and civil society are represented=20
by inviting speakers from the thematic Side Events preceding the Main=20
conference: Gender, Youth, Pacific Islands, ICT for Development,=20
Communications rights, and Defining Information Society.

Panelists will be asked to help find common path to build a more=20
inclusive Information Society in the Asia Pacific context.=20
Discussants from government and private sector have been invited to=20
enable a constructive multi-stakeholder dialogue.
