  I participated in the Asia NGO workshop for WSIS briefly on 22 =
November in Bangkok.

  We are happy to announce the Gender workshop and please find the =
tentative agenda.
  If you want to contribute the paper or powerpoint presentation to the =
gender workshop, then let us know, We'll have the final agenda soon.

  ANNOUNCEMENT:

  A workshop on "Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment in the =
Information=20
  Society: An Asia-Pacific Persperctive" will be held on January 11 and =
12,=20
  2003 at the United Nations University in Tokyo. This activity is one =
of the=20
  side-events of the Asian WSIS Regional Preparatory Meeting scheduled =
on=20
  January 13 - 15, 2002. The workshop aims to provide an opportunity for =
a=20
  multi-stakeholder discussion on gender issues in the themes of the =
WSIS and=20
  to develop recommendations to promote gender equality in the =
information=20
  socieity as well as women's advancement through the use of ICT.

  This event is being collaboratively initiated by a number of =
organizations=20
  representing various stakeholders. These include the Asia Pacific =
Women's=20
  Information Network Centre (APWINC), Association for Progressive=20
  Communications Women's Networking Support Programme (APCWNSP), UNESCO =
and=20
  UNESCAP. Japan Women's Watch (JAWW) is the local partner and host.
