Title and objective of your meeting

Title: Toward rights to communicate.

Objective of meeting: This meeting challenges to discuss and analysis
regarding negative effects of information society. Especially we pick
up two main topics, one is regarding social divide and digital divide,
another one is regarding civil liberty and privacy in the Asian
context. We intend to treat these issues as human security based on
communication rights.

As for the first topic, we intend to treat so-called digital divide
issues from context of social divide regarding migrants, workers
rights to communicate in workplace, the unemployed and homeless
people, women in domestic violences and other minority groups issues.

As for another topic, we intend to discuss about possibility of civil
society and civil liberty independent from national interests and
commercialization. For example, we will pick up the issues of ID card
and monitoring of population which are arising serious debates in
several countries in Asia. Also we will discuss regarding censorship,
contents regulation and national security against civil liberty.

We plan three sessions. Each session needs 2 hours.
First session: Social divide and digital divide.
Second session: Civil liberty, privacy and communication rights.
Third session: Film show and discussion. We show a Korean documentary film
"Rip It Up".
