Hi Toshi (and other CSO WSIS-Asia and Asia-IR listers)
Thanks for this very important news.
Will also await your other reports on the points you discussed with the
Ministry people in Japan.
Just for everyone's info, we have convened a Philippine (Manila-based)
meeting CSO stakeholders in the WSIS processes this afternoon at 130 to 330
(Philippine time). Susanna George, Bobby Garcia, Chat Ramilo, a youth rep
(Robert Sagun), and us FMA people will be there (among others). We want to
just brief each other on all initiatives and keep everyone to speed, and
maybe discuss our own coordinating structures and plans for Tokyo (and
Geneva?)...
If anyone has some URGENT matters you want to communicate with us by phone,
or in need of urgent feedback from any of us, we will be at Susanna's
office, and you can call us there (+632 435-3405; +632 436-0312; +632
435-3408; +632 436-7863), or via my mobile phone (+63918 919-5020).
I also have a meeting this am with Susan McGee of ADB. (I understand she
also met with Glocom people when she was in Tokyo recently) Despite some
legitimate misgivings Toshi (and possibly others) may have on the role of
ADB in this whole thing, I can vouch for Susan as being very very supportive
of CSO interests ever since PrepCom 1. She's been also a good source of
information for us so our sense is to continue to build on this contact.
As some of you may not know, the Philippines has one of the longest
Christmas holidays in the world :-), and this is probably the last week when
NGOs and even other agencies and businesses (except the malls!) are working.
Many people take their vacation leaves around this time till New Year, so we
are rushing as much as we can, while we can...
Bye for now
Al Alegre
