3 groups have applied: Gender, Youth, and Pacific Islands. An
application on e-education is rumored. if you are interested in
participating in/contributing to those session you should send email
to <SidemeetingWSIS@unu.edu> and ask to be put in touch with the
meeting organizer(s). As more info becomes available I'll post it
here.
See <http://www.unu.edu/wsis/> for information about applying to hold
a side-meeting. It is an opportunity to feed into the main meeting,
not great, but an opportunity. Closing date is currently Dec. 27, but
possibility that may change as it leaves little time during the
Japanese New Year holiday season to make arrangements (i.e. get an
application in now rather than wait, it is not a complicated process.)
There was discussion at the CONGO meeting in Bangkok this week about
holding a plenary session of all the groups (or at least civil
society groups) holding side-events to try and coordinate their
output, etc.
I think I gave some bad information about the UN University (where
the side meetings will be held.) Sounds like they are going to try
and be flexible about time and will not finish at 5PM. Not
guaranteed, but they'll try.
They hope to have Internet connectivity during the side meetings at UN U.
Thanks,
Adam
